Good News About Urgent Care
America's ER's Urgent Care Centers works with many insurance plans for urgent care services. If you are treated in America's ER's Urgent Care, your visit will be billed at your plan's standard urgent care rates.
Emergency Room
For conditions that are or could be life-threatening or may cause serious harm if not treated immediately.
Urgent Care
For conditions that need prompt attention but may not be life-threatening.
Not Sure? That's Okay.
At America's ER & Urgent Care, we offer both emergency and urgent care services under one roof, for your convenience. Upon arrival, you'll be evaluated by a medical provider who will assess your condition and determine if you will be seen in our ER or Urgent Care department.
Federal Law Protects You
Under the federal No Surprises Act, effective January 1, 2022, if your chosen insurance plan is subject to the Act, emergency services provided at any hospital emergency room, or an independent freestanding emergency department must be covered by your chosen insurance company regardless of the facility's network status. Patients cannot be billed more than the plan's in-network cost-sharing amount (copays, coinsurance, and deductibles), and that cost-sharing must be applied to your bill as if the services were provided at an in-network emergency room.
Texas Law Adds Additional Protection
Under Texas Insurance Code §1301.155, the law provides additional protections by making emergency care subject to the Prudent Layperson Standard. This means if a prudent layperson with average knowledge of medicine and health reasonably believes your condition does or may require immediate medical care, your chosen insurance plan must base your visit on your chief complaint and presenting symptoms and not the final diagnosis and must apply your chosen plan's in-network benefits.
What This Means for You at America's ER
Federal and state laws are for your protection and apply to your visit. You cannot be balance-billed for emergency services beyond your chosen plan's in-network cost-sharing amounts.
